Possible bug in the rescale calculator

Possible bug in the rescale calculator

Postby mituc » Sun Jan 31, 2010 3:01 pm

Ok, that is weird. Please note that this was first seen here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1415 . That post has another DD config + a log file that can be analysed further if necessary, since that config should have worked but did not.

Now, I removed that signal rescale driver from the position "i" since I don't need it anymore as long as I get the boost in PSI from generic OBD. On the same position I've added another rescale driver to transform the fuel rail pressure from KPA to PSI by simply multiplying it with 0.1450377 (this is the value in PSI for a kPA as given by the GNU units tool). For some reason the computer value is multiplied twice with that, so I get values about 6.8 times smaller than I should.
Do I have too many rescales? ...if there's any limit? Or does the precision mess the result up?

I attached my DD config here + a log file generated today.

later edit: in the same log file you can find FRP unaltered, on another column, just to compare the initial value with what should have actually been calculated. I noticed that the Generic OBD and Ford Specific FRP differ sometimes but not enough to alter a comparison significantly.

mituc,

Please reference this post:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1069&p=5021&hilit=rescale+ford#p5021

This is a known issue that we will hopefully be able to correct in the near future. Joey explains in detail what is happening if you go to the 13th post on the page.

Thank you! It makes sense! Until it's fixed I'll try to see it this will work with the multiplier is set to 1. If it does not then it's going to be ok, I'll just make the conversion everytime when I upload the CSV files into a local SQL database.

Ok, setting the multiplier value to 1 fixed the problem, and the output is in PSI. However, i noticed that when changing from Generic OBD.FRP to Ford Specific.FRP the initial value is not converted to PSI before the calculator gets them, so for now I left the multiplier to 0.1450377 and used the ford specific value since I think it's a bit more consistent.

Thank you again.
