DashDAQ/'09 Ford Escape

DashDAQ/'09 Ford Escape

Postby wptski » Sat Feb 06, 2010 11:43 am

My first post.

Looking into a DashDAQ for my '09 Ford Escape, gas version. After looking at the thread about "What ignals does your DashDAQ show?". It's stated that although it may show a list of PIDs, not all will be actually read by the DashDAQ depending on the vehicle.

I have a scanner which showes read Ford Extended PIDs that showed 71 PIDs on a '02 Ford Taurus but only 37 PIDs on my '09 FE! I also had a SCT engine tuner which I returned because it wouldn't even connect. That was over a year ago and they still haven't resolved the problem.

I'm not sure if this is a '09 Ford problem or just certain vehicles. Just wondering if anybody using a DashDAQ on a '09 Ford product, what are the actual PIDs that can be viewed?

Hi Bill, I thought you had a FEH. Guess I learn something new every day.

Many users have posted their detected signals here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1006

There are a couple of Ford Skins: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=616

Here's my installation with an old skin. I use the Ford skin with the chrome bezel in the above link now. http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f26/ ... iew-21222/

(edit) Sorry, I see you already reviewed the detected signal post.

I guess that I just can't hide anywhere! :D Most comments in GreeenHybrid by non-FEH owners aren't received well. It was your review that I got interested in the DashDAQ.

What's the difference in/between the amount of detected PIDs compared the ones shown, any??

I'm interested in the TFT PID. I see from reading here that you also use a SG-II also. Are you able to code the SG-II for the TFT. Your review showed TFT on the DD.

On the downside the DD doesn't appear to be able to show 4WD rear wheel torque that can be coded with a SG-II.

There's a reason I don't post in the GH forum any more... too many big egos there and the moderators back the high-profile users there, good or bad.

There's a manual for the DD that tells how to set it up. Basically if you scan with a complete signal list parameter of "2", it shows more signals. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1140#p5361

Then you just pick what signal you want to show and where.

The SG allows you to add signals that aren't detected, the DD doesn't unless you request the feature and they have time to add it. This happens all the time and that's how I manged to get Ford hybrid signals added. When I first got my DD I had very few signals to choose from. The Ford extended license does add a lot of signals, many that you probably won't need. You can add Ford Extended and scan for signals to see what's available, you just can't actually use them w/o purchasing the license.

I tried to install x-codes in my SG, but it was too old. When my wife bought a '09 Mariner, I swapped SG's with her so could use the x-codes, but haven't had the need to do that.

I use a Y-cable to use both SG and DD. The only SG signals I'm interested in are the trip mileage (tank, default, today), which is more accurate for me than the single trip mileage Ford provides, which I only reset when I top off the tank. I also have the real-time mpg, which I use a lot, in addition to HV battery temp, SOC and engine coolant temp. The Y-cable isn't the best and I have to reboot my DD on occasion, usually at startup if something reads zero. I've never had to restart the SG tho.

TFT doesn't ring a bell.

Thanks for the link as I had looked for a manual! I have one thing for me as I'm about a hours drive from Drew Tech, so I can get a live demo.

TFT is ATF temperature.

TFT was detect in my hybrid:http://www.dashdaq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1006#p4838 but it is the Ford-specific license.

That's one that doesn't work on a '09 FE with the SG-II using coding from the SG site.

TFT worked on mine when I tried it last summer. I haven't tried it since.

RE: "71 PIDs on a '02 Ford Taurus but only 37 PIDs on my '09 FE"... that makes sense that more of the older, established pids would be detected than the newer pids. It always takes time to implement new codes.

A live demo would be cool. I was sold from what I saw on the website.

That also means that the older PIDs are no longer be detected for whatever reason too!
